eLxr Community Forums

Overview

This page will give you an introduction on how to get started on the eLxr Community Forum. The eLxr community forum is a space where the eLxr community can come together to:

  • Share ideas about the eLxr project

  • Find help from other eLxr user or developers, by posting questions and answers

  • Discuss future plans and perspective, bring new ideas to the project

  • Connect with the eLxr developers all around the globe

Getting started

Geting started on the eLxr Community Forum is straight forward. The following steps should get you up and running quickly:

  1. Go to https://forums.elxr.org

  2. Click on the Sign Up button at the top of the page:

  3. This will open up a dialog where you need to fill in your e-mail, username and password that you want to use to login to the website in the future.

    Please make sure to use a valid e-mail address, as later in the process you will receive an e-mail for account activation.

  4. After filling in the credentials, you will receive an activation e-mail on the provided e-mail address. There will be an activation link in the e-mail in the form of:

  5. After clicking the link, you will see the following screen:

    On this screen you need to click the ‘Click here to activate your account’ button to initiate the actual account activation.

  6. After activating your account, you will be presented with the following screen:

    Indicating that a moderator will need to approve your account. You need to await approval before you can continue with the next step.

  1. One approved you will receive an e-mail ‘You’ve been approved on eLxr project!’. This is the indicator you can log in to https://forums.elxr.org and join the community conversations.

Where to go from here?

Now that you are a member of our eLxr Community, you can start interacting. The eLxr Community forum is based on Discourse. This provides for both an asynchronous communication platform, it the form of threaded discussions in forum categories. As well as it provides for a more synchronous way of communicating, in the form of chats and direct messaging possibilities between users or groups of users.

We have prepared a predefined set of categories and linked chats channels to those categories. Once you open the community forums website they will be visible to you.

If you are having trouble finding your way around, don’t hesitate to contact one of the moderators by chat, or simply start a question in the General Discussions category.
